HOW TO GET MAKER SPACE ACCESS

Complete these training steps to get certified for access to the maker space.


STEP 1: COMPLETE MAKER SPACE 101 TRAINING + QUIZ

Maker Space 101 is a comprehensive introduction to Addison Maker Space's facilities, policies, and safety protocols. This virtual training program is the first step to access our space and machines.


STEP 2: SIGN PHOTO RELEASE + WAIVER

In order to use the Addison Maker Space, all residents must submit a release form. This form is required to participate in any activities or use any equipment within the space. Once the form is submitted and processed, you'll get access to the makerspace.

HOW TO GET CERTIFIED FOR MACHINE USE

Once you have completed basic training and gained access to Addison Maker Space, you may be eager to start using the digital fabrication machines.

However, it's important to note that proper certification is required for each machine to ensure safety and proper use. Our certification process includes additional training on each machine and a quiz to confirm understanding.

Once you have completed the certification process, you will have full access to the machine and can use it with confidence

LASER CUTTER: TRAINING + QUIZ

The laser cutter is a powerful tool that allows you to cut and engrave a variety of materials. To ensure your safety and the proper use of the machine, we require all users to complete a laser cutter training. This virtual training will cover everything from material selection to software operation. Once you successfully complete this training and pass the quiz, you'll be certified to use the laser cutter.


3D PRINTERS: TRAINING + QUIZ

During this training, you will learn how to use our 3D printers to turn your digital designs into physical objects. We'll cover the basics of 3D printing. including how to prepare a file for printing, how to operate the printer, and how to troubleshoot common issues. Our 3D printers use PLA filament, a biodegradable thermoplastic material that's easy to work with and safe to use


CRICUT MAKER: TRAINING + QUIZ

The Cricut Maker is a versatile cutting machine that can cut a wide variety of materials, including paper, vinyl, and fabric. In this training, you'll learn the basics of using the Cricut Maker, including how to set it up, load materials, and select and modify designs. You'll also learn how to troubleshoot common issues and use the machine to create a varietv of projects.


SEWING + EMBROIDERY MACHINES:
TRAINING + QUIZ

The Brother SE1900 is a versatile sewing and embroidery machine available for use at Addison Maker Space. With its easy-to-use LCD touchscreen display and a variety of built-in embroidery designs, this machine is perfect for both beginner and advanced sewers. Basic training is required to use the machine safelv and properly. Once certified, you'll be able to create beautiful custom designs on a wide range of fabrics and materials.
